The Presque Isle County Fair was started by the Presque Isle
County Agricultural Mechanical Society and was first held on September 25 and
26, 1901 in Millersburg. Sometime around 1932 the fair moved to Onaway. After a
stop at Posen as a 4-H fair and the Moltke Township Hall where it was held for
about eight years, the year 2000 saw plans made to move the fair back to
Millersburg. The first fair back at its original location was held in 2001.
The improved fairground has a 30' x 96' animal barn. There is also a grandstand
with banked seating for about 800 people where main events are held. Both were
constructed in 2005. A new announcer's booth was built and 2 new P.A. systems
were purchased to complete the area. Spring of 2006 brought the addition of a beautiful new
sign at the main entrance of the fairgrounds! Permanent fencing around the drive
to help with crowd control and parking was installed in 2007. Water lines were
buried and electricity has been update to handle to amusement rides and venders.
Outside lighting was added for evening events.
The 2008 fair will be held from June 27th through June 29th. The Queens Pageant
kicks off events for the fair with five contestants from communities around
Presque Isle County. In addition to amusement rides and many exciting exhibits,
the fair will feature a flea market and arts and crafts booths, a pie and ice cream social,
and a bake sale. You can see a tractor pull show, an equipment display, and much, much more for a $5.00 daily gate admission!
For a nominal fee, you can participate in the Chicken Drop, and participate in
or watch the ever popular Mud Bog!
It just keeps
getting better every year! Be sure to check out all of the events, applications
and rules by using the navigation links above.
